Where's Your Money Going?

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, commonly referred to as the Stimulus or The Recovery Act, is an economic stimulus package enacted in February 2009. The stimulus was intended to create jobs and promote investment and consumer spending, providing a "jump start" for our economy.

I decided to visit the governments web site  and check up on how the government was getting along with wasting my tax dollars. The web site allows you to enter your zip code and see who many contracts were awarded in your city as well as the dollar amount of those contracts and to who received the money. But the most interesting piece of information is that it shows how many jobs were created as a result of the money spent.

Upon looking up my zip code I found out the following information:

The total contracts awarded - 16
Total contract amount - $9,142,196
Total jobs created - 1.03

As I reviewed the recipient list of the awarded contracts I could not believe what I saw. It basically was a list of nothing more than government waste on steroids. But the most appalling of all was that the one lone job that was created cost the taxpayers $8,875,918.

If you want to see how much taxpayer money was wasted in your area please visit the web site to find out. I have a feeling you will be shocked by what you discover.
