Obama Calls For Stricter Enforcement Of Gun Laws

In the aftermath of the devastating natural disaster in Japan, President Obama chooses this time to slip in some tough talk about gun control. As the world has it's attention focused abroad he takes this opportunity to go on record about his stand on guns in America. Once again President Obama proves that he is not going to let a good crisis go to waste.

from Newsmax

President Barack Obama is calling for more stringent enforcement of existing gun laws, citing the "awful consequences" of gun violence in American society.
Obama says legislation to bolster criminal background checks for gun buyers hasn't been properly implemented, with too many states providing "incomplete and inadequate" information.
He says the system needs to be "faster and nimbler" so it works for gun sellers and "criminals can't escape it."
Obama's remarks appeared Sunday in The Arizona Daily Star. The newspaper is based in Tucson, where Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was shot in January. The accused assailant, Jared Loughner, was considered mentally unstable, yet because he was never deemed mentally ill by a judge or committed to an institution, he was able to legally buy the gun police said he used.

Ah let see, if Mr Loughner had used a car to plow through the crowd of people killing many instead of a gun, then I guess we would be talking about enforcing stricter motor vehicle laws? Or how about making sure all drivers take mental health checks? You know we don't want those crazies killing more people! Oh, oh, I know what we need, we need car dealers to check in with the police/FBI to see if it's safe for Mr. X to own and drive his new car.
