LIVE Radiation Station for West Los Angeles

In light of the looming threat of radioactive contamination coming across the Pacific from Japan I thought I would post this live radiation monitoring site in West LA.

You can see what the radiation level is there in real time for those that would like to keep up to date on what the current level is.
The number represents radiation Counts per Minute, abbreviated CPM, and under normal conditions, quantify the level of background radiation, i.e. environmental radiation from outer space as well as from the earth's crust and air.  Depending on your location within the US, your elevation or altitude, this background radiation level might average anywhere from 5 to 60 CPM, and while background radiation levels are random, it would be unusual for those levels to exceed 100 CPM

I see a machine with a digital readout. What level was normal before the Japan disaster?

Above what level should I be concerned?

What are the units of radiation displayed on the machine?

If it's only slightly above normal, can I inhale a radioactive particle of dust and that might cause cancer in the future?

What is the worst case scenario if there is a total meltdown of the reactor fuel and it gets out of containment and into the environment. Will it release a lot of radioactive particles into the atmosphere that might get to the US? Worst case, how much worse can it get than the existing situation?

WE THE PEOPLE want to know. Thanks.

Just curious, what are the units of radiation displayed on the machine? Is this safe to use?
LA is taking things in control and on our situation right now, we really need the help of gadgets.
