We The People Are On Our Own Folks

As we have witnessed with the Democrat politicians in Wisconsin cowardly fleeing their own state and literally turning their backs on their constituents, there are basically no profiles in courage left in the cesspool which houses our elected officials.

Make no mistake, as these Democrats from Wisconsin put corrupt public-employee unions, outrageous and unsustainable benefits for public sector employees, and their personal needs and the needs of their party before the people of their state, one thing has become abundantly clear: We the people, are on our own. Step back, take a deep breath and take an honest look at the state of our union, your state, your county, your city, or your town. How many truly believe our president, your governor, your county executive, or your mayor has—as their only sworn duty—your best interests at heart?

As President Obama sits in the White House paralyzed into indecision over what to do or say as more and more of the Middle East goes up in flames and falls into the shadow of fanatical Islamic rule, he still can find his teleprompter-assisted voice to proclaim support for the cowards from Madison, tax-payer destroying unions, and to trash the Defense of Marriage Act. Why? Well, with regard to the Middle East, real leadership means taking a stand and stating a clear, unequivocal, and principled opinion. Something Professor Obama has avoided at all costs since the beginning of his short and undistinguished political career.

While diving out of the batter's box with regularity when a high hard one is thrown his way by various thugs, terrorist groups, or terrorist supported states, he is more than happy to dust himself off, get back in the box and swing at the softballs lobbed his way by the special interests which bankroll the Democrat party.

As Obama, the vice president, and a majority of the politicians in Washington employ the ostrich defense when it comes to the escalating problems in the Middle East, it seems they need to be reminded of the oath of office—with a shorter version for the president—that they all took:

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.”

Ducking the issues which threaten the national security of our nation makes a mockery of that solemn oath.

Job one for our president and our Congress is the national security of our nation. Period. If these “leaders” can’t get that right, then at some point, what happens to gluttonous public employee unions, collapsing entitlement programs, bankrupt states, the shutdown of the federal government, or Obamacare will soon not matter. Terrorists will see to that.

As the price of oil spikes at over $100 per barrel, the Suez Canal is threatened, the rulers of Saudi Arabia try to buy their way out of revolution—and keep their oil flowing to the United States—the president and those in Washington we elected to serve us, would still prefer to tackle the issues which most benefit them. Shocking.

As we gaze in horror at the fiscal meltdowns taking place in our states, counties, cities, and towns, it’s clear to see that this selfish and destructive behavior is not confined to Washington. We the people truly are on our own and the sooner we face that unfortunate reality, the quicker we can save ourselves.
The clock is ticking, terrorists are planning, and our coffers have run dry.
