A Sign Of Just How Quickly The Looting Will Start When The SHTF

Looters arrested at Sunset Hills tornado damage
by: Craig Hasten

One of our readers here at The Warning Signs forwarded me a video from the Weather Channel in which they pointed out the problem with looters in an area that was recently hit by a tornado (thanks Dan). This immediately grabbed my attention and prompted me to investigate whether this was an isolated incident or an ongoing problem in these areas. In a matter of minutes I was able to find dozens of news articles reporting the problem of looters preying on victims in the recent tornado stricken areas.

20 Signs That A Horrific Global Food Crisis Is Coming

In case you haven't noticed, the world is on the verge of a horrific global food crisis.  At some point, this crisis will affect you and your family.  It may not be today, and it may not be tomorrow, but it is going to happen.  Crazy weather and horrifying natural disasters have played havoc with agricultural production in many areas of the globe over the past couple of years.  Meanwhile, the price of oil has begun to skyrocket.  The entire global economy is predicated on the ability to use massive amounts of inexpensive oil to cheaply produce food and other goods and transport them over vast distances.  Without cheap oil the whole game changes.  Topsoil is being depleted at a staggering rate and key aquifers all over the world are being drained at an alarming pace.  Global food prices are already at an all-time high and they continue to move up aggressively.  So what is going to happen to our world when hundreds of millions more people cannot afford to feed themselves?

9 Ways to Prepare for Food Inflation

article from frugaldad.com

If you’ve been to the grocery store lately, you’ve no doubt discovered that the price of most foods has increased significantly. There’s plenty of blame to go around: increased commodity prices due to increased demand, increased oil prices, devaluation of our dollar, and on and on.

Whatever the reason, increased food prices are putting a major dent in our household budget. Since we can’t do much about the prices, we have to look for other ways to reduce (or at least keep even) our overall food expense.

Nuclear Plant Chief Weeps As Japanese Finally Admit That Radiation Leak Is Serious Enough To Kill People

Overwhelmed: Tokyo Electric Power Company Managing Director Akio Komiri cries as he leaves after a press conference in Fukushima

  • Officials admit they may have to bury reactors under concrete - as happened at Chernobyl

  • Government says it was overwhelmed by the scale of twin disasters

  • Japanese upgrade accident from level four to five - the same as Three Mile Island

  • Military trucks tackle reactors with tons of water for second day

  • The boss of the company behind the devastated Japanese nuclear reactor today broke down in tears - as his country finally acknowledged the radiation spewing from the over-heating reactors and fuel rods was enough to kill some citizens.

What Can The Japanese Tsunami Teach Us About Prepping For Disasters And Emergencies?

The Japanese tsunami is a crystal clear example of just how unpredictable disasters and emergencies can be.  Nobody ever dreamed that a tsunami in Japan could wash cars, homes and people up to 6 miles inland.  But that is exactly what happened.

Taming Chaos With A Personal Plan

Cypress overpass in Oakland, CA, after earthquake 1989.

Over the past week we’ve seen a massive earthquake and tsunami in Japan that caused a nuclear accident, the Saudis sending troops into Bahrain to quell civil unrest there and the government of Yemen taking measures to expel foreign media as protests have swelled against Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh.

Alert: Nuclear (and Economic) Meltdown In Progress

Japan Will Shift From Being an Exporter of Funding to a Consumer of it

    Important Note

It is with a heavy heart that I am now issuing the highest level alert to my readers than I have to date. The threshold for an alert is one or more world events that personally cause me to take action.

The substance of this alert centers on the unknown aftershocks that may result from the world's third largest economy, Japan, rapidly shifting from an exporter of funding to a consumer of it. In situations like these, we are by definition operating with incomplete and often confusing information, and events are developing more rapidly than they can be fully analyzed and internalized. We regret in advance any mistakes that we might make due to making calls and decisions in this highly fluid environment.

A Reminder Of Why It's Good To Be Prepared

In light of the recent disaster in Japan I think everyone should take a good look at what can happen in a time of crisis.

In just a matter of a few hours Japan went from being a nation with the third largest economy on the planet to a country of total devastation. Now that the flood waters have receded much of the country finds itself left with a crippled infrastructure that has no means of providing the basic necessities to its people. Currently there is a shortage of everything including food, water, shelter, medicine and gasoline and no one knows when these necessities will be available to the Japanese people. Even areas of Japan that were not hit by the tsunami are seeing shortages of these items.

Japanese Radiation Could Pose Threat to U.S.

If a radiation cloud from Japan’s damaged nuclear reactors eventually reaches the western United States, it could pose a threat to American crops and the people who eat them, nationally known neurosurgeon Dr. Russell Blaylock, MD tells Newsmax.

America On Nuclear Alert: Could Fallout From Japan Explosion Reach U.S. West Coast?

    • 'Worst-case scenario' could send nuclear cloud across Pacific
    • 30,000ft winds would carry radioactive material across the ocean
    • U.S.S. Ronald Reagan hit by month's radiation in just one hour
    • Japanese reactors are very similar to 23 in America
Fears that America could be hit by the nuclear fallout from the Japan earthquake dramatically increased today after the reactor hit by the tsunami went into 'meltdown'.

Officials at the Fukushima plant revealed fuel roads are melting inside three damaged reactors, triggering fears of a serious radiation leak.

The Gathering Storm: A Must Read

“Still, if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed, if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not so costly, you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance for survival. There may be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no chance of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.” – Winston Churchill (the Second World War)

Japan, Radiation Fallout and Iodine Recommendations

Below is an article that was sent to us by one of our readers (thanks John).
It gives some very good advice as to what we can do to protect ourselves in the event that there would be any fallout from the Japanese nuclear plants.

Get Internet Access When Your Government Shuts It Down

These days, no popular movement goes without an Internet presence of some kind, whether it's organizing on Facebook or spreading the word through Twitter. And as we've seen in Egypt, that means that your Internet connection can be the first to go. Whether you're trying to check in with your family, contact your friends, or simply spread the word, here are a few ways to build some basic network connectivity when you can't rely on your cellular or landline Internet connections.
